Overview: The Assistant Store Manager supports store operations, supervises day-to-day activities, manages schedules, and helps develop the team through training opportunities to improve store performance. Responsibilities Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports Identify training and development opportunities to enhance team performance Model ALDI core values and foster teamwork Monitor the competitive environment and communicate necessary adjustments to maintain competitive position Provide product feedback and make recommendations on new items or items to discontinue Participate in interviewing for store personnel Communicate information including weekly updates, milestones, developments, and concerns Ensure adherence to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies Resolve operational customer concerns in the absence of the direct leader Identify and rectify hazards and maintain store equipment in proper working order Maintain store cleanliness and appropriate signage Assist with stock levels and product ordering Merchandise products neatly to maximize sales and ensure quality and freshness with accurate signage Assist with payroll, inventory counts, and training of new employees Supervise day-to-day team operations and escalate issues when necessary Ensure direct reports complete responsibilities in a timely and effective manner to provide high levels of customer service Comply with company policies and maintain confidentiality of documents and data Other duties as assigned Physical Demands Stock merchandise, lift up to 45 pounds, and handle products at various heights Regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk Job Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service Ability to develop rapport and effective communication with direct reports Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures Ability to set goals and guide employee performance Ability to evaluate and drive performance Ability to manage budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses Ability to operate a cash register accurately Ability to operate equipment safely and perform cleaning duties to company standards Excellent verbal and written communication skills Organizational skills and ability to multi-task Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages Education And Experience High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment Combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge Prior management experience preferred Benefits Medical, Prescription, Dental & Vision Insurance 401(k) Plan with Company Matching Employee Assistance Program Discount program ALDI is an equal opportunity employer.
