We are seeking a Downstream Production Supervisor to join our growing team in Wilson, North Carolina.

JOB SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor will supervise the downstream manufacturing process for Believer Meats cultivated meat product.The supervisor will develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of their area of responsibility (freezing, kitting, mixing & extruding, and/or packaging) and act as a hands-on manager for direct reports. As Believer prepares for production and commercialization, the supervisor will contribute to SOPs, assist with equipment set-up, adapt to change, and advance Believer's safe and productive work environment.

Schedule: The supervisor will work standard business hours Monday-Friday until production start-up. The regular schedule will then move to nightshift and is expected to include a mix of weekend and weekday work.

Please note: This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must be located in the Wilson, North Carolina area or be willing to relocate at their own expense. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Train and mentor production team members, monitor their performance, and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Educate and hold team members accountable for compliance with company SOPs and regulatory guidelines (USDA, OSHA, ect.)
  • Learn the basic functionalities of all equipment such that you can train team members and help drive performance.
  • Maintain production documentation and records and support the QA group to ensure all required checks are captured correctly and on time.
  • Complete routine safety and quality audits and participate in investigations.
  • Participate and be engaged in regular production, safety, and other company meetings.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as maintenance, quality, and logistics to resolve issues and improve overall production processes.
  • Consistently follow all safety and food safety protocols, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. This includes compliance with properly using personal protective equipment (PPE), identifying and reporting potential hazards, and actively participating in safety training and initiatives. A commitment to maintaining a culture of safety and minimizing risks to yourself and your colleagues is essential.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated supervisory and technical skills. The incumbent will have a combination of skills, education, and skills that demonstrate the ability to fulfill all aspects of this job description including:

  • 3+ years experience with production machines and processes related to kitting, mixing, and/ or extrusion. Prior experience in manufacturing snack bars, cereals, pasta, or meat products would be directly applicable.
  • Ability to remain awake and alert during night shifts.
  • Knowledge of FDA & USDA regulations, SSOP (Standard Sanitary Operational Procedure), and hazard analyses.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to give and receive feedback.
  • Effective leadership and professional communication skills.
  • Authorized to work in the US (Believer is an E-Verify participant).
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background screening
    and drug test.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Mobility: Ability to move around manufacturing facilities, including navigating stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces. Must be able to access confined spaces and work in tight areas as required.
    Will be expected to work in a dry and wet environment.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hand and power tools for maintenance and repairs. Ability to manipulate small components and perform intricate tasks.

  • Physical Endurance: Capable of standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for extended periods. Able to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment or materials as needed.

  • Visual and Auditory Acuity: Must have keen eyesight and hearing to identify potential safety hazards and diagnose equipment issues. Ability to distinguish colors and operate machinery with visual indicators.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. Proficient in using appropriate lifting techniques to prevent injury.
